Besides being a symbol of the most important feeling love our heart plays many other significant roles for our body. It is the most worked up part of our body which is functional at all times.
Some of the primary and most important functions of our heart are:
RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE HEART
The superior Vena Cava and inferior Vena Cava in the lower and upper part of our body sends deoxygenated blood to the right side of our heart straight into right atrium with the help of body tissues. This de-oxygenated is thereafter pumped under high pressure to the lungs through the pulmonary artery.
LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE HEART
Oxygenated blood travels to the left side of the heart from the lungs straight into the left atrium. This blood then passes through the bicuspid valve into the left ventricle. From here it is pumped to aorta under high pressure. The high pressure facilitates the effective reaching of oxygenated blood to each and every part of the body through the vascular system of blood vessels.
Our heart is under tremendous pressure all the time pumping and sensing blood to the body up and down, left and right. This requires a lot of hard work and meticulous actions. So how does a heart work to take care of the above mentioned functions?
Systole which refers to the contractions and diastole which refers to the relaxation of the heart muscles is responsible for the incessant pumping action of the heart. And this is controlled and commanded by the nervous system of our bodies.
